Lebih Baik Mengharapkan Diri Sendiri (Better To Rely On Ourselves)

Su Dongpo ( 苏东坡 ) adalah seorang sastrawan yang terkenal pada zaman dinasti Song, dia berteman baik dengan guru besar Zhen. Pada suatu hari mereka berdua sedang pergi berdarma wisata, di sebuah dermaga
mereka melihat ada sebuah kuil Dewi Kwan Im.

Guru besar Zhen segera melipat tangan dan memberi hormat serta menyembah kepada Dewi Kwan Im.
Setelah melihat kejadian tersebut, Su Dongpo sangat heran lalu dia bertanya kepada guru besar Zhen, “Dewi Kwan Im sebenarnya memang Dewi yang harus kita sembah, tetapi kenapa diantara kedua tangannya masih tergantung manik-manik untuk berdoa, dan tangannya masih menyembah, Dewi Kwan Im sebenarnya menyembah siapa ya?”

Guru Zhen berkata, “Sebenarnya hal ini harus bertanya kepada diri Anda sendiri!” Su Dongpo lalu menjawab, “Saya mana tahu manik-manik yang berada dikedua tangan Dewi Kwan Im sebenarnya untuk menyembah siapa?”

Sambil tertawa guru besar Zhen berkata, “Dia sedang menyembah Dewi Kwan Im.” Setelah mendengar perkataan guru besar Zhen, Su Dongpo merasa bingung, “Dewi Kwan Im kenapa menyembah dirinya sendiri?”

Dengan perlahan dan sambil tersenyum guru besar Zhen berkata, “Ya, lebih baik mengharapkan diri sendiri daripada meminta bantuan orang lain.”

Su Dongpo (苏东坡) was a famous poet in Song Dynasty, he was good friends with the professor Zhen. On one day they're going to travel on a pier
they see there is a temple of goddess Kwan Im.

Professor Zhen immediately folded his hands and give respect and worship of the goddess Kwan Im.

After seeing the incident, Su Dongpo very surprised and he asked the professor Zhen, "Goddess Kwan Im is indeed goddess that we must worship, but why still hanging between his hands for prayer beads, and his hand is still worshiped, Dewi Kwan Im who actually worship you? "

Zhen teacher said, "Actually it should ask yourself," Su Dongpo and replied, "I know where the beads are located in both hands Dewi Kwan Im actually to worship whom?"

Zhen professor laughingly said, "He is worshiping Goddess Kwan Im." After hearing the words of Professor Zhen, Su Dongpo was confused, "why worship Kwan Im Goddess herself?"

Slowly and with a smile professor Zhen said, "Yes, it's better than asking ourselves expect help from others."
